The Coronavirus is our Neoliberalism Wake Up Call

I read today about a 17 year old boy in Lancaster, CA died due to complications from the Coronavirus. He didn’t have any previously reported health conditions. He was denied treatment at a hospital because he didn’t have health insurance. He was turned away because he couldn’t afford to live. This boy, like many in America, the richest nation in the world, wasn’t worthy of life. We can’t afford it. It’s too costly to insure the nation. We don’t want to be Communist China or the U.S.S.R in the 80’s. The free market will provide and we will better off without any sort of massive overhaul of the healthcare system. A shock to the system like that will raise taxes of middle class America, and we can’t have Americans foot the bill for people who don’t try hard enough.

According to the Mayor of Lancaster, CA, the boy was fine on Friday, and dead by Wednesday. The most powerful nation in the world is rotten to its core. We’ve been watching for a over week Congress and now the Senate debate about a stimulus bill to help the American people recover from what might be a 2nd Great Depression and pandemic nightmare that we haven’t seen since the turn of the century in this country. We’re constantly being beat over the head with the bipartisan chants of how healthcare for all is too costly. We are props in their political theatre. Democrats will use this boy’s death as call to get Donald Trump out of office. He is one of, if not the most inept president in modern history. The GOP will use this boy’s death as way to vilify Democratic state…
