Why “Socialists Can’t Win” is Some Bullshit

I’m seeing a lot of people on that, “A socialist can’t win”. Thinking the concept is intellectually challenging for most people, and generations of red baiting, and mentions of communist, authoritarian dictators and the failing of the USSR is enough to poison the campaign of self proclaimed democratic socialist, Senator Bernie Sanders. Well, Bernie has run as a socialist since the 70’s. He’s not the typical presidential candidate. He wasn’t bread for the position, or come from a lineage of government officials. He’s not the candidate of big pharma, the fossil fuel industry, or the military industrial complex. He is, as Richard Wolff put it, “The next step” after the occupy movement. A true voice for the 99% of us, the marginalized majority as Onnesha Roychoudhuri calls us. His 2016 campaign alone has pushed the entire Democratic Party to the left and also inspired the rise of more progressive even socialist candidates running for congressional, senate, and city government seats throughout the country.

“You show me a capitalist, and I’ll show you a bloodsucker”

We often don’t mention it, but these men were of the left/socialists.

Let’s just look at how far socialism/democratic socialism has gotten so far. Bernie has won 3 straight primaries as a socialist. Not to mention he became mayor and senator of Vermont as a socialist. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took out Joe Crowley, establishment, corporate Democrat, as a…
